Wooden King and Queen's Final Resting Place

WOODEN KING AND QUEEN FIND NEW HOME AT THE DOCTOR WHO EXPERIENCE

Visitors to the Doctor Who Experience will now be able to get up close and personal with the Wooden King and Queen from this year’s Christmas special. The creatures from The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe have escaped their doomed forest and now reside in the safety of the interactive walkthrough exhibition at London’s Olympia Two. They are the brainchild of Steven Moffat, who was haunted by such wooden creations as a child.

The Wooden King and Wooden Queen were hatched from the baubles hanging from the branches of whispering Christmas trees, and reside in a tower grown from trees where they lie in wait to entrap their rescuers.

The Wooden King and Wooden Queen have been installed alongside many of the Doctor’s most familiar foes, including the Daleks, Cybermen, Silurians and the Silence. They will remain in their specially created viewing area at Olympia until the Experience closes its doors for the last time on the 22nd February 2012.

The Doctor Who Experience is an interactive walk through exhibition at London’s Olympia Two, which runs until the 22nd February 2012. You can still book tickets for the Experience by visitingwww.doctorwhoexperience.com.

The Christmas Experience

Hello friends...

DOCTOR WHO EXPERIENCE UNVEILS ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS GROTTO

London’s Doctor Who Experience has put an out-of-this-world spin on the festive season by unveiling an alternative Christmas grotto - a magical twist on the seasonal tradition.

The alternative grotto, which runs on selected dates* throughout December will showcase a magical world of Doctor Who festivity in a bespoke new grotto which will take visitors on a time travelling journey through the television series’ spectacular Christmas specials.

Featuring some of the show’s most memorable seasonal props, the alternative Christmas grotto will include Kylie Minogue’s maid costume from ‘Voyage of the Damned’ (which aired on Christmas Day 2007) and the eerie Santa Robots from ‘The Runaway Bride’ broadcast at Christmas in 2006.

The grotto will also feature the terrifying Sycorax, the deadly Cybershades and the Heavenly Host who were all made famous by recent Christmas appearances.   Rare artefacts such as Abigail’s Chamber and Kazran’s Armchair from last year’s phenomenal ‘A Christmas Carol’ episode will also feature.

A traditional Santa Claus will also be on hand to meet and greet visitors as they explore the yuletide treasure trove of props and costumes.  Each attendee will gain exclusive access to the custom made grotto during their visit to see Santa and all children will receive a Doctor Who gift worth over £5.  Tickets to the Alternative Grotto are a £5 supplementary ticket alongside Doctor Who Experience tickets. Adults accompanying children can access the grotto with just their Experience ticket. Grotto tickets are exclusively available through See tickets or can be purchased on site at the Doctor Who Experience shop.

The Doctor Who Experience allows visitors to join the Doctor on a journey through time and space, encountering some of the best-loved and scariest monsters from the hit international television series. Special scenes filmed with current Doctor Matt Smith combine with amazing special effects and the chance to enter a recreation of the modern TARDIS interior topped off by a breathtaking 3-D finale.

The exhibition element of the Doctor Who Experience charts the success of the show from the first series in 1963 to the most recent episodes starring Matt Smith and Karen Gillan.  Displays include items never seen before including original costumes, the Tom Baker TARDIS police box and two authentic TARDIS sets from the eras of David Tennant and Peter Davison.  The public are also able to get up close and personal with iconic sets from recent series, including the Pandorica Box and Chair and confront numerous monsters including several generations of the Daleks and Cybermen as well as Silurians, an Ice Warrior and The Silence.
